Who Should Take the Three-Hour Course?

If you're a current California notary with a valid commission and you have completed an approved six-hour course of study at least once, you can take a three-hour refresher course prior to reappointment. IMPORTANT: An approved three-hour refresher course is only acceptable if the you apply for reappointment (taking the class, submitting an application, passing the state exam) before expiration of your current notary public commission. If the commission expires before you complete the course, you must take another six-hour course before being reappointed.
